Creative Tip: Cupcake Signs

In honor of my birthday {yes, I'm 30 years old today!}, I decided to post some signs for one of my very favorite things ~ cupcakes! Cupcakes are perfect for birthdays, engagment parties, showers, weddings, anniversaries...or just any day that you want something sweet!

Here are a few signs that were used at a client's recent wedding.

Cupcakes work well on towers or can also be given out as favors in sweet take-out boxes at each place setting. The possibilities for cupcakes are truly endless!

Wedding Shoot by Bella Weddings & Events

We were so honored to be included in this gorgeous green + white inspiration wedding shoot by Bella Weddings & Events that was recently featured on Green Wedding Shoes!

From Susan & Kathy at Bella..."When Leila came to us asking to collaborate on a shoot, we were thrilled. We immediately thought of Vibiana as the perfect venue for the shoot and a fresh green spring theme started to evolve. Vibiana is a gorgeous venue with so many amazing architectural details - we loved shooting the details in the church's old altars and confessionals. The white marble is a gorgeous background!

Carissa's inspired floral designs brought to life the modern look for the dining and cake tables and through the light and airy bouquets. We had so much fun playing around in the Classic Party Rentals showroom to find the perfect place settings and chairs. The cake designed by Melody from the Sweet & Saucy shop picked up details from one of the gorgeous wedding gowns from the Alisa Benay collection. And Laura Hooper's classic custom calligraphy invitations, menus and place cards completed the look."

To tie the stationery in with the green + white theme, we provided invitations, menus and place cards using our Manhattan script in green ink. To play up the elegance of the venue and decor, we used a formal, all-calligraphy invitation.

We just love the dessert pieces!

Thank you to Leila at Be Inspired PR for bringing us into the shoot and to all of the vendors involved!

Real Wedding: Houston, Texas

Last August we featured a blog post on our first world map that was created for a couple soon-to-be-wed in Houston, Texas. We are so pleased to have received photos of the wedding from their photographer, Clint, and to see that the wedding was included in The Knot Texas!

In our original post we mentioned that we also created table signs featuring the locations of the map and are so exciting to share them today!

The couple also used compass place cards to keep in line with the travel theme...

...and had us create this adorable card box and sign for their gift table!

Finally were the cupcake signs at the dessert table - very sweet!

All calligraphy was done in brown ink in our Carpenter script (except the gift sign which was white ink on brown paper).

See more on The Knot spread on Clint's blog.

Another Cute Cake Sign

Today I was not in an envelope mood. I was more in a painting type of mood. As you can see by these two most recent posts, I spent the day working on things with paint. First the map, now this adorable cake sign for lovely Jill Rose in Brooklyn, New York. It's perfect because she sent a picture of her cake and I did this nice little rendering for her. Its about 8" in diameter on ivory scalloped paper and has pink ink in the ever-popular elegance script. The cake is mounted on the ivory so it actually stands out a bit from the rest. I painted it with a mixture of watercolor and gouache. These little guys are completely custom, so if you want one they can be purchased on my etsy page and painted or drawn however you prefer. And, I just found out today that I'll be doing Jill's calligraphy for her envelope addressing too, in the matching elegance script! I can't wait...

A Red Reception

Thank you so much to world class photographer, Lisa Lefkowitz, for sending me the gorgeous photos for this darling wedding I worked on last September for one of my brides, Margaret. Margaret had a very specific idea of what she was looking for. She wanted placecards, envelopes, table signs, and a cake sign. I was lucky enough to get pictures of all of them today from Lisa. I just want to show how beautiful calligraphy can accent your wedding, other than just using it for your outer envelope or the placecards. Everything she chose coordinates to her colors, red and brown, which used together are bold, sultry and romantic.

This cake sign is so great. It looks just like Margaret's cake and it lists off to the right the flavors of each tier. It has their names at the top and can also include the date or anything you'd like to put. It can be in full color, or on different paper colors, in any size on any type of sign. What an adorable way to let your guests know what delicious treats they are eating. A sign that reads "sweets" also adorns the table.

These tiny boxes are actually nerds candy wrapped up as favors. Each sign is written on white paper and mounted on a thick brown card stock that I provided for her. The bride had tons of favor ideas, and she didn't just settle on one or two! Read on for more photos....

Of course I have to show the invitation with the calligraphy. The script style is Holly, more commonly known as Sloop.

A candy jar full of red treats greets wedding guests in their room. The script style is Bickham.

Baskets of vibrant red umbrellas, urging family and friends to celebrate this momentous occasion.

Baskets of white and red tennis balls as favors with the note, "Love All."

The placecards are, of course, bright red.....in Bickham Script.

And finally, a basket that reads "A midnight snack" filled with late-night goodies. Margaret's attention to detail was not only refined but completely unique as well.
