Engaged! in Washington

Engaged! Magazine is excited to announce a fabulous bridal event for 2010: Engaged! in Washington will be held this Friday, February 5 from 5pm - 10pm...and we are honored to be a party of it!

You can meet me (Laura of Laura Hooper Calligraphy) as well as Sylvia Weinstock of Sylvia Weinstock Cakes.

The first event of its kind, Engaged! in Washington will be held at FIVE of the city's premiere wedding venues: The Four Seasons Hotel, The Hay-Adams, The Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis Hotel, and The Willard Intercontinental Hotel. From 5pm to 10pm, couples can arrive at any of these properties and experience each venue as it would look for an actual wedding, meet the people that make fabulous weddings happen, linger and look, ooh and aah, and then take a limo bus to the next venue for more eye candy!

We are also excited to let you know that Soco Events will be giving away this pair of Christian Louboutins to one lucky bride!

Washington, D.C. Map

We created this map based off of another Washington, D.C. map that had already been created. The couple was marrying over Thanksgiving weekend and were having about 15 guests over to their house for a pre-wedding party and wanted to include a special map!

The bride  (actually, Mother of the Bride, who I primarily worked with) wanted to be sure that all of the classic D.C. icons were included (White House, Capitol Building, Potomac River) as well as their townhouse, but other than that, she was open to keeping the map basically "as-is" from the previous design.

We are always willing to work off previously designed maps, and this is especially usefuly if you are working in a time pinch! But please know that the changes need to be minimal (i.e. removing or adding roads or a changing to a different calligraphy script both require new map designs) if you would like to use a map previously shown on our website, blog or facebook pages.
